What does lightning, a balloon sticking to a wall and a chock from walking across the carpet have to do with one another?  Well, they are all examples of static electricity.  Static electricity is a build up of electrical charge on an object.

Have your ever looked at a store window on a bright, sunny day?  In order to see inside, you may have used your hands to block the glare.  The glare is actually reflected light.  The glare from the store window shows that glass can reflect light.  But if you look at a clear glass window with no glare, you can see right through it.
